Exclamation Missing upgrade tab

Please Login to Remove!

Currently running BES 4.1.6MR4 and I have no upgrade tab in either the Domain or Servers view. Any idea why this is missing?

Trying to set this up for the users.

I have it and there are only 3 os version on it.

Maybe you have to have a device that can be upgrade able to use it.

We have 3 Bolds and numerous Curves. Did you do anything special aside from the upgrades? Myself, I never did upgrade to 4.1.5, went from 4.1.4 (I think) to 4.1.6.

Mine were upgrades from 4.0.6 to 4.1.6 MR3 and always had the tab from upgrade day. One was knife-edged to a fresh install and that also has the tab. Only got Bolds and Storm on one BES. I can look for a pattern tomorrow. Is there a chance it is checking out devices.xml, as mine is usually up to date....

Doh. Just checked both BES and both have Bolds (one has a Storm) so obviously there are lots of >4.5 devices but if you have bolds also, can't be that...

If it's fetching upgrades from RIM, shouldn't there be a log item of that transaction somewhere?

I haven't tried to use it yet but I know there was a thread not so long ago. I don't think it gets upgrades unless you tell it to so not sure about logging.

This could also be carrier related:

I've got a ticket in to mine.

Sounds logical but will be a bugger if it is true. I have many carriers on both BESs (1 x US and 1 x UK) and if the upgrade tab is enabled due to one device on one carrier being valid for this, how would I know which one it is? So assuming I currently at least have at least one upgradable device on each BES I guess I have to query every one before I know which is valid?

I am not fussed really as it's bottom of my list, but it would be good to know how to use it if I can.

Well just got off the phone - it is indeed turned on by this factor:

An update has to be available for one of your phones that is already at OS 4.5 AND be authorized for wireless push by the carrier. Just because your carrier has released the update for download, doesn't mean they've released it for wireless upgrade.

In your case Stu, you have different providers and only the authorized download for each phone and carrier would be available. So Voda could have an update for a Bold, but AT&T might not and you wouldn't be able to push the Voda update to the AT&T phone.

Cool thanks for the info Target. It's nice to have it from the (annoying) horse's mouth

Well, to be fair, the carrier would get the calls about the faulty OS, not RIM.

Yeah but it's the way it has been implemented on the BES which annoys me. But hey I will ignore it for now anyway so I guess it's not really an issue at all for me
