Hello,
We have 1945 BES users running across six 4.1.6 MR2 BES servers with Novell GroupWise 7.03 HP1 e-mail platform.
Up until now (believe it or not) we have never used any software config packages to deploy anything to the devices.
I need to create a package for the RSA Soft Token application to push out ot all 1945 devices.
My problem is, we need to push out 2 different versions of the RSA app due to a range of device OS's.
One version works on the newer device OS' and the other is for the older device OS's.
I copied the applictions to the server and indexed them. When I try to create the software package it tells me that multiple versionss of the same application were found and to remove one.
I did and it works.
How do I make packages for 2 versions of the same application? I would REALLY hope there is a way, the BB Admin giude says you can only have 1 version?!
We have T4 support and I was going to call them but I figured I would try the fourm first.
Well, T4 should be able to tell you what BES looks for as far as "duplicate" apps, it could just be a matter of changing one entry in the package. However, a low tech solution would be to move the accounts around to different servers so that all of the new models are on 3 servers, all of the old ones are on the other 3 servers (or some other split that makes sense). Of course, this is the part where you tell me they're split geographically making my suggestion moot.

I was just going to suggest that.. =)

Your lack of planning is not my emergency.
You can have two versions of the same application, but they have to be on different shares. You will have two app configs and you must assign the app for the older devices to the users with the older OS and the app for the newer devices to the users with the newer OS.
Another possibility is to change the app id within one of the alx files, so BES doesn't think the app is duplicate.
