Unhappy Where are Contacts Wireless Synch Options?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello. I'm the owner of a Pearl flip and my contacts aren't being synched between Outlook and my device. I'm on a BES and I'm successfully synching my email, calendar, and tasks successfully between the two devices. There are contacts in my BB by the way; they were inserted only after I initiated my device on the BES for the first time. It just seems that the problem stems only for contact UPDATES. For instance:

1. A contact in Outlook, say Name=Brian James, if updated to Name=Brian Adams James will NOT show up on my device. Only Brian James is displayed. Furthermore, if I delete the contact from Outlook, it won't be deleted on my device. Consequently, if I delete the contact on my device, it won't be deleted in Outlook.

I've exhausted the links to the following threads:

Contacts won't Synch through BES 4.0.7
Contacts not Synchronizing from BES to Device
can't synch Contacts?
Wireless Synch on BES contacts
Syncing personnel address book wirelessly in Domino

...but can't find anything that solves my problem.

One thing I noticed is that all threads speak to the following settings on the device:

1. Select contacts
2. Choose Options
3. Select wireless synch

That's NOT an option on my device. If I follow mine as:

1. Select contacts
2. Choose Options
Observation: There's nothing to indicate wireless synch.

If I select DESKTOP under the word Contact Lists within the Options page, I see the setting:

Wireless Synchronization - NOT AVAILABLE
...all under the bold header "Desktop"

.............

Question for the team....

0. Why does my device say Wireless Synch NOT available?

1. Where is the setting to enable wireless synch for BES device holders?

2. How do I find it/navigate to it on my device?

3. Are there tests or recommendations that our BES administrators should run?

4. In the meantime, how can I accomplish synching with a wire?

5. For context...I just got a BB 8900. I want to use it. But I want to resolve the contacts issue on my BB 8200 first. Basically, get all the contacts on my BB that aren't in Outlook, into outlook. THEN...setup my BB 8900.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Lester

You can plug in to a USB port and use Blackberry Desktop Software to sync with Outlook. To find the wireless sync option on your device, open Contacts, then use the Menu key to go to Options, then choose the particular contacts list to get the option to enable or disable wireless sync. On mine, the only choice is "default". I'm on BIS so you BES users might have different choices.

If you highlight "not available" and click with trackball, does it pop up a list and therefore allow you to change to Yes.
Or does the menu opo up with save, switch and close.

May want to contact the BES Admin.. Might have to resend the service books or re-activate the device.

I'd suspect that EA didn't complete successfully and you might have to re-activate.

techlinks, I am moving this to the BES Admin Corner, where one of the Exchange BES Admins might be able to help.

Can I just say kudos to you! Thank you for taking the time to search before posting your question. If only everyone was like you....
