Default OTA Software Update - Curve 8900

Please Login to Remove!

I dont know if this is possible - but worth asking....

If I have a software update, can I somehow install it on the server that I am running BES on - and then wirelessly push that through as a OTA software update to the Blackberries?

No, you cannot.
You can request the wireless update via BES, but your carrier needs to support OTASL and must approve the handheld code as well. (I doubt they'll allow you to install handheld code released by another carrier.)

sorry - a follow on question....

"you can request the wireless update via BES, but your carrier needs to support OTASL and must approve the handheld code as well."

I think the answer still remains a "no" - but:

My carrier is Vodafone UK (I know they generally support OTASL as you can wirelessly update the Storm). The software I am trying to update is to the next official Vodafone UK release (4.6.1.168 - platform 4.2.0.94) from 4.6.1.133.

Soooo....can I request that somehow from my BES for a wireless update? Or does it need to show up in my BES as an avaialble update before I can push it though?

I think its the latter - but just wanted to clarify....?

Follow the steps outlined in the link I posted above. They might apply to you.
