So over the weekend I stupidly deleted the e-mail from my BlackBerry 8830...

OK, so I've removed myself from the BES, I was sober, and wiped my BB. Waited until I was deleted. Re-added myself and re-activated. Activation finished, but no messages get put back on the BB. BTW - The messages remained in outlook on the Exchange server after the original stupidity.

I'm still learning this BES stuff, but I thought the "delete User" and re-activation would have re-synced me completely.

if the messages were in subfolders other than the inbox, you need to select those folders for redirection before activating.

Messages were all in my inbox.

Since re-activating new messages are being delivered to the BB, but nothing that already existed in the inbox came over.

Are the messages older than the cutoff?

Messages are not pre-populated by default for existing user. Messages are pre-populated 5 days back for fresh user.

Check if you have switched on message pre-population on the server.

I'll check to see if it was when it was installed, but I'm trying to get BES to see me as a new user; I thought deleting me and then re-adding me would do it.

FYI - When I activate an existing user on a new phone, the new phone gets re-populated with messages.

There is also a reg hack to force message prepopulation even for existing users:

Yes the messages are older than the 5 day cut off. I didn't think when I activated a new user it cut off at 5 days though.

Is there a way to change how many days back get activated, I inherited this setup from someone who new nothing about BES and BlackBerry; who hired someone to set it up for us... documentation... non existent.

Think the best you can do for pre-pop is 14 days/750 messages whichever occurs first, and this will only apply to a new user, or an existing user getting a new BB.

Yup, delete and readd should do the trick.

To change the pre-pop settings use the BB Manager, Server configuration, Messaging.

Changed the pre-pop setting to 14 days, deleted my user and re-added.

Activated and voila! E-mails back.

If it weren't for my own stupidity I wouldn't learn anything. =)
