Default Blackberry Email delete

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

We are currently using Blackberry model 8300 throughout our Firm.
When our users delete an email from outlook it doesn't delete on their handset, yet when they delete an email from their handset it deletes from the handset and Outlook, is it possible that when an email is deleted from Outlook for it to be deleted oin the handset also?

Is it a simple setting within BES?

Do a search for "hard deletes" and check the settings suggested. Not being an Exchange shop it's not an issue that has affected us.

Also check the settings on the BB, Messaging - Options - Reconciliation,

Delete On - Mailbox & Handheld,
Wireless Reconcile - On.

This forum. Open BES Admin Corner, and in the top right corner you will get an option for "Search this forum"

Search with criteria "hard delete"

Lots of threads will be returned, such as
Emails deleted in Outlook do not delete on BB

Excellent,

I found it, will run some tests on it later:

It is found on the BES in 'Servers' > right click on Exchange > select 'Edit' properties > Messaging > Hard delete reconciliation > Change from False to True.

I have yet to test this.

Well I have found that if the owner of the mailbox deletes their email themselves, then it will delete on the handheld device, but... if someone who has permissions to the owners mailbox deletes the email then it wont delete from the handheld.

Partially true Craigy Boy. There is a registry hack to force the deleted mail to go backto the owners deleted items folder.
See Microsoft article to change it:
Items that are deleted from a shared mailbox go to the wrong folder in Outlook

Pay attention to the permissions changes needed to owners deleted items. Our PA's normally use this setting a lot.

Craigy Boy, I just ran into the exact same issue after having to delete an email from a few mailboxes other than my own.

So did enabling the Hard Delete Reconciliation resolve this issue for you?

Also, is Hard Delete Reconciliation only a BES 4.1+ option? We're still on 4.0.x so I don't see that option. Is there a registry change that can be made or does this feature not exist for anything older than 4.1?

We'd upgrade except we're building a new BES + Exchange in the coming weeks so it doesn't make sense at this point.

Can anyone provide a link to RIM documentation for enabling hard delete reconciliation on the BES. I can't seem to find it on BTSC...
