Hi Guys,

We just recieved the following from our network.

BlackBerry Security Issue
Dear Business Partner,
Please be aware that there is an issue with some versions of BlackBerry Software that is allowing
malicious PDFs to be viewed that can corrupt the Blackberryxxx8217;s memory and possibly the
computer the BlackBerry attachment service runs on.
This issue is affecting BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 3 (4.1.3)
through to 4.1 Service Pack 6 (4.1.6).
Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of BlackBerry, has issued details of the problem and
guidelines on how to defend against it:
How do I check which software Ixxx8217;m using?
On a BlackBerry device press: Options/Settings (often a spanner icon) and then press xxx8220;Aboutxxx8221;.
How to resolve the problem:
RIM has issued an interim security software update that resolves the vulnerability in affected
versions of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Visit:
http://www.blackberry.com/go/serverdownloads
to obtain Interim Security Update 2 for affected BlackBerry Enterprise Server software versions.
For further information please visit:

For further assistance please contact:
BPs please contact your relevant Service Executive.

We recommend all Business Partners to contact their BlackBerry customers and pass on the
attached document in order for them to update their devicexxx8217;s security.

Thanks my friend but this is old news and fixed months ago (search for PDF on here and MR4 fixes it "permanantly" so no patch required after that). Did VF really just send you this now????

Yeah after clicking the link I notice that it was first published on the 12th January. Pretty bad that we only just got sent that. Grrr! It was vf that sent it but our BP.

Wow so no need for an update then. I was panicking a bit about having to send out a mail shot to all customers.

Thanks for your help.

Nah no update required if you did it already or are on MR4.

You need to kick your BP hard IMHO coz that's a serious oversight.
