BlackBerry Security Issue
Dear Business Partner,
Please be aware that there is an issue with some versions of BlackBerry Software that is allowing
malicious PDFs to be viewed that can corrupt the Blackberryxxx8217;s memory and possibly the
computer the BlackBerry attachment service runs on.
This issue is affecting BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 3 (4.1.3)
through to 4.1 Service Pack 6 (4.1.6).
Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of BlackBerry, has issued details of the problem and
guidelines on how to defend against it:
How do I check which software Ixxx8217;m using?
On a BlackBerry device press: Options/Settings (often a spanner icon) and then press xxx8220;Aboutxxx8221;.
How to resolve the problem:
RIM has issued an interim security software update that resolves the vulnerability in affected
versions of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Visit: http://www.blackberry.com/go/serverdownloads
to obtain Interim Security Update 2 for affected BlackBerry Enterprise Server software versions.
