i am quite new to BES, i apoloies if this is a stupid question.
We are currently running BES 4 SBE on our front end mail server with exchange 2003 and currently have about 13 users using Blackberry's.
I need to give my manager a proposal on upgrading the server and software as the company is moving strongly towards blackberry's, but as i said i am quite new to the software, can someone please point me in the right direction by telling me where i can find information on motivating for the upgrade to either 4.1 or 5 depending on the costs. i would also like to know where i can get information from on what the pros and cons are about this software and where i can go to get more familiarized with BES on how to install and managed the system
Welcome! Do a good search of BBF as I remember a recentish thread about writing a BB proposal for management and we gave the guy a lot of good words for this. As for pros and cons of the versions, your best bet would be to head over to RIM at www.blackberry.com and find the feature comparison table. I know there was one which went from 4.1 way back to at least 3.something so I am sure there is now a shiny new one in light of the 5.0 release.
Installation and management is all about reading the guides really really well and then coming here for the stuff the guides miss out .
I was in your place too. But after reading the manuals several times and reading 1000"s of posts, I have become very familiar with BES and have helped many with my knowledge. I wish you the same success and happy reading.
