Question PIN - A few questions...

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I have a few questions I was keen to know the answer too when it comes to PIN's

1) Are they free to send? no data charge or charge to the account like an SMS message?

2) IF you open up the option to use PIN's on a BES what are the security implementation of allowing that? basically what are the pro's and con's of allowing PIN to be send in a corporate environment

Thanks for reading this, it's something that's been on my mind for a while now...

PIN messages use the data connection. If you have an unlimited data plan, then no worries. If your plan is limited, then it still shouldn't be a big deal because messages use a relatively small amount of data. But there is no per-message fee as there is with SMS.

Not sure about #2. Are you asking from the standpoint of the user, or from the perspective of a manager? For what it's worth, the BES can log PIN messages.

Hi Aiharkness,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm a BES admin here and I'm looking at the scope for things we can do to help our users, save money and generally increase productivity while maintaining a secure and trouble free (well as trouble free as possible) BES environment

There are several threads on this subject in our BES Admin area. I searched 'PIN'.
