Depends on the software release of device. There is a thread in here somewhere about it, I will dig it out. I reset the pwds on 2 curves last week running 4.5.x, neither were prompted. It can be a real pain from a support point of view, as the user has no visibility of password being changed until AFTER they unlock device with new pwd, then they get a popup saying "new OTA password applied" (or something to that effect).
