Default Renaming attachments' file name on the BES' Attachment Server with x-rimdevice

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,

I am on Bold and Storm.

I have these SupportedAttachemts coming onto my BB mailBox with "SomeFileName.ext"

Is there a way ( ...some Script running on BES' attachment server may be) that can rename this SupportedAttachment "Filename.ext" to "x-rimdeviceFileName.ext".

In such a way that when I see these attachments in my Bold/Storm mailBox they appear to be as "x-rimdeviceFileName.ext" rather than "FileName.ext"

I have already enabled my .ext file extension on the BES' Attachment Server.

thanks
Rak

IIRC the file is in its naitive format and you are opening it from the email itself. So how do you edit the emails attachments?

Also what happens if you forwarded it? the next person will be confused.

If I misunderstood you, tell in more detail what you are trying to do.

Thumbs up

I added a .drf file extension entry in the BES Attachment server alongwith .doc:.pdf:......so that all my .drf attachments are assumed as SupportedAttachments when they are received on my blackberry device.

By enabling this new entry of .drf, BES is supposed to automatically assign the prefix "x-rimdevice" to every filename.drf. But this is not happening, all my drf attachments are coming as UnsupportedAttachments on my Blackberry (simulator) and I cannot see the content of my attachments .

My simulator is connected to the BES. So What I do is manually prefix these file.drf which in fact BES must do for me. I can see the content of.DRF file if it has the prefix "x-rimdevice" to it. Something like "x-rimdevicefilename.drf".

So if BES cannot implicitly assign this prefix to my .DRF attachments we must find an explicit way ( may be a PERL script running on the BES Attachment Server that prefixes all .DRF attachments.......) of prefixing "x-rimdevice" to all the .DRF attachments.

thanks
RAK
