Default Requesting new updates - disabled

Please Login to Remove!

So - I have been playing around with some settings in BES 5.0. And made the following changes:

In BlackBerry Administration service, I changed "BlackBerry Device Software deployment managed by BlackBerry Administration Service" to yes - previously it was "no".

This gave me a new field in Software, which said BlackBerry Device Software. Going in this new field, I clicked on Search for new wireless BlackBerry Device Software Bundles and clicked search. There were two: both for BlackBerry Storm. I changed these to "Supported".

Since doing these changes, if I go to Wireless Updates on any BlackBerry on our Bes and request new updates, I get: "Requesting new updates has been disabled by your administrator"

How to undo this? I have tried reversing the steps that I had performed (described above - but with no luck

Thanks in advance!

I think it is resolved. When I changed back the settings, it does not automatically change back the settings in the IT policy to allow the user to request the upgrade. I have just done that manually. Waiting for the IT policy to update and can test!

Thumbs up

voda_black - thanks! Your idea worked perfectly for me.

Specifically, I had to change the ""BlackBerry Device Software deployment managed by BlackBerry Administration Service" to No in BAS...

Then in the IT Policy, under "Wireless Software Upgrades" I had to change the value for:
Disallow Device User Requested Upgrade to No
-this is the obvious change that fits your's and my needs in this case.

Additionally, I changed these values... not sure if they were set by BAS or during my testing, but thought I'd mention 'em:
Allow Non Enterprise Upgrade to Yes (not all BES Admins will want this as Yes)
Disallow Device User Requested Rollback to No (again, option not for everybody)

Thanks again!

I bought a second hand 8310. It seems it was on a enterpise before and the administrator has disabled the camera and browser. How do I undo this?
