Default pushing out new device OS using BES 5 - 05-30-2009, 05:53 AM

I've looked at the BES 5 help menu and its not entirely clear... How does one push out (OTA) a new version of handheld software to a device?

Thanks for your time.

Well, its not great. First of all to push it out OTA - it first needs to be approved as an OTA software download by the carrier.

If it is, then the easiest is to first go to BlackBerry Administration Server in BlackBerry topology, and click Yes to administer device software from BAS. Next, you need to go to Software, BlackBerry software, and then create software configuration. Create the software bundle and then go to BlackBerry Software and create a software package. Next assign this software package to the device that you want to push it to....

As I said, not great...

I'm having trouble creating the software bundle. I'm stuck on the part where I have to create a shared network drive. I've pointed the share to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\Shared, installed the latest Bold OS, but I keep getting this error:

BlackBerry Device Software bundles do not exist in the server file path specified. The network share could not be defined.

Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem with this issue. Was anyone able to create a new Software Device Bundle? Im trying to push out an 8830 package but it is not listed when I "Search for BlackBerry Device Software bundles".

There's no OTA deliverable version of the 8830 OS. You can't push it out to your devices wirelessly.

We just upgraded to 5.0 today. I am burying myself in adjusting to the changes and getting used to it.

I spent an hour or so this afternoon setting up the shares, etc. to push device software. I have it working for wired updates via DM or Web DM.

However, when I "search the Blackberry Infrastructure" for available wireless Blackberry Device Software bundles, I don't get any results.

Am I missing something? I read elsewhere that Windows Server 2008 has some internet settings that need tweaked before it will work, but this is on 2003 and browsing works fine.
