Default Global Filters & Unified Messaging - 11-16-2005, 12:28 PM

Hi All,

We are using InterTel's unified messaging in our environment, which forwards voice mail from our voice mail server to our Exchange server, then out to our user's Outlook inboxes and BBs. We've found that when users delete the message from the BB it's deleted from Exchange and the voice mail server. We've set up a global rule to prevent the BES server from forwarding these so that the users cannot inadvertently delete voice mail before they listen to it. However, we've had users request that they still receive some kind of notification that they can delete without deleting the voice mail.

I know that the global filtering is somewhat limited, but has anyone found a way they can:
  1. Receive mail to the BES server
  2. The BES server holds the message
  3. The BES server sends a 'canned' message indicating receipt of new voice mail

I'm assuming that we might be able to accomplish this with an Outlook rule but prefer to have all the action occuring on the BES server so that it can be centrally administered.

Any suggestions? We're using Exchange 2003 SP1, BES 4.0 running on WinServ 2003 SP1, a mix of Outlook 2K & 2K3, and a mix of BBs (mostly 7520s).

Thanks & Ciao
