Default Need to regenerate activation email - 11-16-2005, 12:30 PM

I need to send an activation email/password to an existing user so I can activate his new blackberry. I right-clicked on his name and said "send activation email", but it is saying that it was not sent since it already has a valid non-expired password. I assume it is saying this because I sent a password on Monday. However, I need to send a new password. I tried deleting and readd the user in BES and it did not help. Any help would be appreciated!

I am on BES 4.0.

Would be nice if BES let you choose to send a new password anyway, but it doesn't.

Either delete the user and select the option to remove all BB info from the mailbox, or manually enter a password in the user's property sheet and manually e-mail the new password.

Actually you can remove the password and resend a new one in the way that you are wanting. You go into the Blackberry Manager on the BES, double-click the user and when you get to the property page of the user, select remove password. This will remove the previously generated OTA password and allow you to right-click the user and gen and email a new one. Just did it to myself and got 2 consecutive emails with different passwords. Hope this helps.

I'm not seeing a "Remove Password" option under user properties.

Under 4.0sp2 you can select the user, select Service Access -> Set Activation Password, and then enter "0" for the expiration time. The dialog says this will clear any existing password.
