Default Error after office 2007 Installation - 06-17-2009, 10:26 AM

HI. i will not profess to being an expert Blackberry server administrator, so if i miss something clearly obvious please forgive me.

A colleague of mine Upgraded office 2003 to 2007 on they server hosting the BES software. intermediatly after the BES server started to have a number of errors regarding MAPI profiles. he then handed the problem neatly over to me, i decided to uninstall office 2007 and reinstall office 2003. this resolved the issue with the MAPI and i was able to reconnect to the Besadmin account on the Exchange server. however within blackberry manager the two accounts did not reconnect back up with there handheld devices. after serveral hours i decided to remove one of the users. re add his account and reconnect it to the device. once i select the user, his account begins to initializing, i then attempt to assign a device to the account the following error pops up

"An error occurred while assigning the handheld to the user. The user is not yet known to the BlackBerry agent. It can take several minutes for a newly added user to be fully initialized by the server before they can be provisioned"

this was over several hours ago! ive checked the permissions in the exchange server and they all seem to be correct, i think the problem is on the local machine and is directly related to the installation of office 2007 as the time line fits to perfectly. I am at my wits end as to where to proceed from here. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wait a sec... you installed Outlook on the same machine that has BES on it?
That's a HUGE no-no. You need to uninstall it completely because you're going to have mapi32.dll and cdo.dll mismatch problems.

Dump Outlook, and install Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 as per the BES documentation.

wow. i dont doubt the validity of your statement but outlook and office 2003 have been on the server for as long as ive been at the company though it has never actually been used. secondly i did not actually set this bes server up so i cannot clarify what kind of original install has been done!

I have uninstalled office 2003 and installed Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1. and now when i go to edit my mapi profile setting though the bes server administrator i receive the following error "invalid properties in msgsvctable (00000000)"

after spend around 12 hours on this problem i think it maybe worth formatting this system and starting again, i could of been done by now. do you know of any easy to follow walk through guides to setting up a BES server. obiously the installation guide but ever little helps!

Make sure you have this in place:

Office 2003 and Office 2007 removed (and rebooted)
Install MAPI / CDO components (and rebooted again)
Login as BESAdmin and re-create the BESAdmin MAPI profile (BlackBerryServer) ... and reboot again

Then report back what if any errors show.
