Default Attachment Server only listening on 127.0.0.1

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I just activated the first user with our BES and the only issue remaining is that attachments won't display on the BB device.

Each time the user tries to view an attachment, the following shows up in the _MAGT_ log:

Error: TransID=-00000, Attachment=FooBar.pdf - Attachment Service not running or invalid configuration

The service is however up and running, I can even test is using the BlackBerry Server Configuration.

What I have noticed however is that the Attachment Server only listens on 127.0.0.1 and that is what I suspect to be the problem, but maybe it is not ...

So any ideas what do to next?

The server is question is the BPS variant of a BES 4.1.4

Is the BlackBerry Attachment service running?

What happens if you go to BlackBerry Server Configuration and attempt to test an attachment processing?

With the same attachment in question? Sorry, I meant to ask that.

Can you enable logging on the Attachment Service and see what it outputs?

yes, it works with any PDF attachment I have tried so far.

I've enabled extended logging and will post the results.

ok, solved it myself by tweaking the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Research In Motion/BBAttachServer/BBAttachBESExtension/BBAttachServerName was not set to 127.0.0.1 but to another IP adress instead. After changing the value to 127.0.0.1 and restarting the BES, everything works fine now.

No idea, how the wrong value came in there, but who cares
