Default Not able to push the application to BB device from BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

Couple of days back, I was able to resolve enterprise activation issue.
So, now my BB device is correctly provisioned with BES.
I am using BES for MDS Server ver 4.1.3.

Next, I am trying to push the application(an app developed by our company) to the activated BB HH.

To do this, I have followed each and every step from thisKB article.

I have followed every step, I haven't got any issue while doing that.
Also, after doing Assign Software Configuration to the user I also did update Configuration Check Status.

But after waiting for a one long day. I haven't got the application on BB HH.
I can't see any error in Logs also.
Is there any specific log file where, I can track the status of the pushed app. Or is there any option on BB manager itself to check the status of pushed app.

Am I clear to you all?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and appreciate your response,
Hemant

Look in the POLC log ... check this out: BES Logs ... What's in them? Part 11 of 20 (POLC log) - Software Configuration - Port3101.org : Your BES Connection

if you want, send your POLC log from the day you tried to push the application to me at [email address] and let me know the user you're having a problem pushing to. I'll post back any relevant content removing anything specific to your organization

One more question.

1. Is it possible to delete the application(I mean any 3rd party application, which is pushed from BES) installed on BB device from BES?.
If yes, how can I do that?

2. Is it possibe to delete any application installed on BB device from BES.

When I am doing Edit Properties, by selecting a user in BB Manager. I can see Blackberry Device option as read only.

Any suggestions?

Thanks and appreciate your response,
Hemant

Response to #1

You are able to delete pushed apps from the handheld only if the policy that was used to push the app allows it. Each Application control Policy has a field called "disposition" that can be set to "required, optional, or diallowed".

I will have to defer to someone else for anwers to the other question, I think the answer is yes, by setting the disposition to "disallowed" from the BES

Rather than start a new thread i am pumping this one. I am having a tough time with pusing a software configuration out to one of my users.

I have indexed and reindexed, I have updated the vendor and device XML files. Not sure what else to do. The POLC log has syntax error stating the XML document must have a top level element.

any ideas or is there something i can post that might help someone with a little more experience with BES tell me what's wrong

BES 4.1.2 (bundle 47)

prior to last week this worked flawlessly

delete all instances of device.xml and vendor.xml on your server.

Grab them again ... KB13589 - How to update the device.xml and vendor.xml files

and then do a loader /reindex

Those are probably files that are located within a zip or other compressed archive ... regardless, no ... just device.xml and vendor.xml

If you upgrade to BES 4.1 SP4 or greater you can right-click on a user and select Deploy Applications to have it not wait for the standard polling interval ... since you don't the only thing you can do is:

Set the following registry value:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\BlackBerry IT Admin Server

DWORD Value (in decimal minutes): AppProvisioningPollInterval

Restart the BlackBerry Policy Service

The default (if nothing listed) value is 240. RIM recommends no less than 120 in production. Lower values are acceptable for testing of course.

I set it to 5 if I'm testing ...

Oy, search for specification.pkg and PkgDBCache.xml ... delete all instances of them and then do a loader /reindex again.

Default Issue while pushing different app to same device.

After pushing HelloWorld app succesfuly(as I mentioned in my previous post). Now, I am trying to push a bigger app(around 1.8MB). But not able to push the app to the device.

This time. I have created separate s/w configuration and trying to push the app to same device(on this device I had pushed HelloWorld app yesterday). Is it right?

Also, for testing purpose i changed AppProvisioningPollInterval value to 5 minutes.

Then, I apply that s/w config to the device. Then i am getting this in POLC log.

Have you actually selected the application for deployment within the software configuration? It appears that no application was queued...

It also doesn't appear that you have an Application Control Policy in place ... do you?

I finally got the app deployed, however the user states it doesn't function. that is another issue i guess. I will verify that later today when the user is here in the office. I still have the other issue mentioned above. I will attempt to send the log later as well.

I again created a s/w config to user, this time I have applied Disallowed policy for HelloWorld and Required Policy for another TestApp.
And I assigned this to the user.
This time i got following info in POLC log.
