Question BES 4.0 Sp7 to 5 - 07-09-2009, 03:22 AM

Dear all,

i'm trying to upgrade from bes 4.0 sp7 to 5.0.

I'm in a windows 2000 Domain, on a windows 2000 server sp4 with exchange 2000.

When i try to install from the setup, i have an error about the exchange permissions (in the pre-installation). It says that the user administrator is not found in active directory...i try to install with the besadmin and it's the same error.

Thanks for your help.

Can you post a screenshot of this?

FYI: You should only be using the BESAdmin account

Is the besadmin account hidden from the GAL?

Are all of your domain controllers / global catalog servers up and functioning properly? Can you run a dcdiag and check to make sure?

can you zip up your bes logs from the day you tried to do the upgrade and email them to me at [email address]? Also include a link back to this thread so I know where the message is coming from.

I've not seen this behavior before.

dear hdawg,

i don't upgrade the server , just start the installation and stop after the error message.

Do you want me to start the installation again, stop to the same error in the installation process, and send you the log ?

Thanks for your help.

Proceed as far through the installation as you can and if it errors / stops quit the installation and send over the Setup log file generated.

Please check out KB17949 - Username, password, or domain is not correct. ... error with BAS

The errors:

LDAPBrowser attempting GetDCInfo for domain
LDAPBrowser GetDCInfo failed for domain
LDAPBrowser GetDCInfo failed: SrchBase [], ServerURL
Pre-install could not get DC information for domain

lead me to think that following the instructions in the KB article may help.
