Currently we are a large distributed organization with multiple individually managed instances of BES across the country. Licensing for each of these BES instances was purchased through local office budgets.

We are planning to manage BES centrally in the future and my question is regarding licensing.

If we pull the CAL's together into one centrally managed system, is it possible to divide the CAL's so that groups of CAL's are only available/assigned to some groups of users?

Basically, can we create an organizational structure within BES 5.0 so that the licenses purchased for a subset of users can only be available to those users.

Are you talking about consolidating the regional BESs into a large central BES?

Are the regional BES local to their Exchange servers? You may want to centraly manage the BESs, but keep the regional structures.

I can't assign CALs to specific locations/users. You's have to manually keep a log of CALs purchased/users activated per location.

The regional BES servers attach to regional Exchange Servers. We will be migrating/consolidating all of the regional Exchange servers to a two data center solution.
