Default DBES Mail Agent - BES pending count 12336, sent 704, queued 11632

Please Login to Remove!

Please help, since yesterady at 12am our BES server has been running at 100% CPU and the BES Agent is processing really slowly and a big back-log is forming.

We're using BES 4.1.6.13 installed on a VMWare Virtual Machine. The BES Management database is on a Physical SQL 2005 server.

We're using Domino 8.0.2. The Server Tasks shows the following:
DBES Mail Agent - BES pending count 12336, sent 704, queued 11632

I'm not sure where to start to find out what is causing the problem. There's been no changes to any of the infrastructure all week (that I'm aware of at least). The Domino Logs aren't showing much beyond the normal behaviour.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

(1) Check that all BlackBerry services are running
(2) Check for hung threads in the MAGT log, the keyword is "No Response"
(3) Maybe most of your users switch off their BlackBerry and hence the long queue

I managed to solve the issue. For the benefit of anyone else searching on this error, the following was found in the MAGT Log (names removed to protect the innocent):
--------
[20149] (08/21 12:20:26.346):{0x10A4} Thread 10D0, utilization=88.6529%, failed health check 1 times
[20148] (08/21 12:20:26.346):{0x10A4} Thread: *** No Response *** Thread Id=0x10D0, Handle=0x85C, WaitCount=1, Last Activity: Scanning for new mail for user Fred Bloggs/OU/ORG
[30580] (08/21 12:20:26.533):{0x10A4} Overall utilization=95.6467%
--------

Turns out this is a known issue with 4.1.6 when sending multipart messages, see blackberry.com KB16097 for more information.
