When BlackBerry users, connected to the BES 5.0 server, attempt to open a .doc or .docx file, the client sees no errors and the file opens correctly. However, the BES server reports the following "Information" entry in the System Log:
Application popup: BBConvert.exe - Unable To Locate Component : This application has failed to start because WMVCore.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
The resolution is to copy the WMVCore.DLL (2,833kb) to the SYSWOW64 directory and run "c:\windows\syswow64\regsvr32 wmvcore.dll" to register the DLL and then restart the services. UPDATE:
The above resolution seemed to work until SP2 for Windows 2008 was installed. The following resolution was applied and seems to be working now:
Install the WMFSDK 11 runtime without the desktop experience by running the following command and the command line as suggested in the MS Knowledge Base article 972098
For x64 systems:
pkgmgr.exe /ip /m:"%windir%\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-Media-Format-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.0.6001.18000.mum "
