Default Question about passwords....

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,
I have a question about saved passwords on a BB 8310.
A user has wiped his device by entering a password incorrectly more than 10 times. Fair enough. He understands the consequences and accepts that I will have to rebuild the device.
However, he had a password saver application in use on the device (please excuse me, I don't know what the application is called) and he had up to 25 different passwords saved using this password saver..??
Is it possible for me to retrieve this file from the device before I rebuild the unit?
I have requested an activation code from our BES server administrators so I can re-build the device and re-activate the e-mail service, but before I do this we were wondering if (by some chance) this password file might be held somewhere that I could access?
Any help or suggestions would be of great help thanks,
Cheers.

Assuming you mean 'Password Keeper' ... then yes, the data is retrievable.
Once the device goes through a new Enterprise Activation, the data will be restored automatically.

You can restore it from the backup file if there is a backup file.

Of course, that assumes he remembers THAT password ;)

Even though the device was wiped? I was always under the impression that a wipe would restore the device to 'factory defaults' and after an EA, the device would only have the 'corporate' data on it from the server.

Please correct me and let me know where I am right/wrong.

Thanks,

JDay

I don't see where it says it backs it up in that article, but I can attest that it does in fact do it.

Yeah, it's an older KB article from the BES 4.0 days. I couldn't find the updated one, but I know it exists somewhere.
I'll keep looking.
