| Japanese User Support Please Login to Remove! Hi,
We have a BES running in our HO in Canada. It's a 4.1 server (4.1.6.40 which I think is latest MR) running on a Windows Server 2003 R2 box and we're running Exchange 2007 latest service pack + patches and the database for the BES is SQL Server 2005 on a separate server.
We've recently activated the first BlackBerry for a Japanese employee and he's reporting all kinds of font rendering issues. First it was that some (or all) Japanese web-sites wouldn't render, but after installing East Asian languages / fonts in Windows some sites started working better, but not all. And now he's also reported that if he sends an email in Japanese, it comes out mojibake (mangled text) on the recipient's side.
He bought the BlackBerry (a 9000) in Japan and is using a Japanese carrier. He's taken the phone to his carrier's customer service / support staff and they've repeatedly said the phone is fine, it's got all the fonts and such that it needs, there's something needed on the BES.
He can send emails from Outlook in Japanese so we're pretty confident the Exchange server and spam/av mail filtering is all in working order.
What am I supposed to do to support Japanese (or other East Asian) staff in their local languages?
Thanks,
- Dominic |
