Exclamation Getting Queries from the BES - 11-30-2005, 04:39 PM

Hello All.

My name is Fred and I'm new here at the forum. Would like to get some help from the GURU'S here.

1. Any way of exporting the users from BES to an EXCEL sheet? with all the colums in it such as user name, pin, email address device type and all.

This would be great to have a sheet done otherwise manually inputing the information would suck.

2. From BB Manager... any way of knowing on what date were users added to the BES.

I've worked mostly with Blackberries on the user end and have over 6000 installs in my IT carrier. Only recently have I been doing the BES Administration.

Can anyone Help

thnx

Default RE:Getting Queries from the BES - 12-01-2005, 10:06 AM

Hey Fred,

In BES 4.0 I can export to .csv by right-clicking the server name under BB Mgr and choosing Export.

There is a Creation Time in BB Mgr (click the server and look for Creation Time in the right pane), but I'm not sure if it represents when devices have been added. I see a lot of 'not available' but that may be due to us being on an eval key at the moment.

Not much help, I'm afraid, but I'm sure you'll get more replies.

Ciao

I have used Excel to run a SQL query to the BESMgmt database. If you have access to the DB, it shouldn't be a problem to get all the stats.

The advantage here is that you have the ability to perform advanced queries and pull some stats that you don't see in the admin console.

BES 3.x and below (although I've no experience with pre 3.x) will have a lot LESS information contained in the database than that of 4.0.

Default Nice idea - 12-01-2005, 01:04 PM

Rob,

Never thought of that, but very interesting idea. That'd give us the ability to build an interface so that users without BES Sever permissions could check on devices.

blubyu... the link is dead

all thanks for your help. im able to pull up the information.

I needed this information for tracking purposed and as rob said, for those out there who do no have access to the bes, they will be able to pull up information.

now and days we have so many blackberrys corp wise that i know most of you might be supporting around 1k or more user community with devices.

this is sweet to keep track of devices, pin, e-mail address and carrier information all in one spread...

I fixed the broken link in my post above. Basically that thread shows two different ways to extract data from the BES and display it for non admin people. The first approach was to use asp.net. My approach was to use php. Both worked fine for what we were doing.
