I keep searching the forums and can't find an answer to my question, so if i over looked it even a link to a thread would be great.

Ok, i'm trying to get BES 5.0 installed, we have an existing BES 4.1.6.9 running with our exchange 2007 install. I'm doing a seperate install with it's own DB, this is just for us to test out 5.0.

I downloaded the ExchangeMapiCDO file from MS and installed it. So the installation is now recognizing the mapi32.dll, but still won't recognize the CDO... can i just get this from our exchange server and copy it over to the c:\windows\system32 folder? I copied over the CDO.DLL i'm using on the old bes but i'm guessing for some reason it doesn't like it, so i then found a excod.dll on the exchange server. I copied it over, still a no go.

i did, and installed it. Then ran BES setup again here is what it shows...

! Unable to find Collaboration Data Objects Library (CDO.dll).

The mapi version is correct.

Check to see if it is registered.

the reg key is there, BES 5.0 Install still says it can't find the CDO.DLL. It won't let me use regsvr32 to register the DLL though. odd. (Explanation of Regsvr32 usage and error messages) gives a vague reason.

Rebooting to see if that changes anything.

nope. no change. what i wasn't clear on (from the BES 5.0 install instructions) is exactly where in the world they want you to get mapi and cdo dlls from. I never saw that in any of the instructions i saw... actually everything i saw just seemed to be recommendations and pre-requisites.

ok found the answer to my issue. Install Exchange Management for 2007 and then copy the contents of the C:\program files\exchangemapi\ folder to c:\windows\system32

i kept looking for a folder called exchange and not exchangemapi.
