Our previous Network admin installed BES 4.1.6.9, but we used Small Business Edition Licenses. That caps us at 15 licenses, but I need to go up to 30. Does anyone know what I need to do to convert from SBE to regular?

Two choices. Ditch SBE and go to BPS. You can use your SBE CALs on BPS and that will reset your limit to 30. However, you have to reinstall the whole thing as they're two different products. Or buy the Full-BES Upgrade license (I think it's a grand), which is a simple key that includes 5 CALs that puts your SBE into Enterprise Edition with no upgrades required.

Yup - Full BES and SBE are the same product, one is simply artificially limited to 15 users. You just need a key to unlock the potential.

no, your SBE licenses must be converted to full BES licenses. i would suggest going to professional unless you see going above the professional 30 cap soon. then again, you've already shelled out the money for full BES, you might as well upgrade your 15 licenses and just move forward with full BES CALs.

BPS is free upgrade but no HTML and some other limitations being that it is only at SP4

Well if you're ultimately going to at least 20, then really you can think of the upgrade as a $500 upgrade as it comes with 5 licenses as well (500 for the upgrade, 500 for the licenses). And a whole lot less work.

You won't lose your exisiting 15 licenses regardless. Although, if you went to BPS, I think you'll lose 5 as 5 licenses come with SBE initially. So, in other words, just spend the $1000 bucks and upgrade ;)

no. sbe licenses work on professional, you would not lose any. however, the money that you have sunk into full BES would be lost, and you would be capped at 30 users. if it were me, i would upgrade my 15 CALs to full BES CALs, that way i would never have to worrry about it again...

SBE CALs work on BPS, yes, but SBE itself came with 5 licenses as part of the product. It's part of the SRP key so you can't transfer it.

yes you can. you can enter SBE keys straight into professional...even the ones that come with it. i've done it many times. there is no "professional" tier of key. professional will accept *ANY* sbe key. just go into your license mgmt, write them down, and put them into professional. it will work...if that's the route you want to take...

i still say upgrade your keys to full BES and be done with it...that way you don't have to worry about the 30 cap, since you already need 30.

Well I can't say I've ever done this more than once so I'll leave it at that.

BPS does upgrade all the SBE CALs.
