Default Bes 4.0 All Wireless Looking To Avoid Desktop Manager User Install - 12-02-2005, 02:14 PM

Hey fellas... as we all know 4.0 has all the wireless capabilies out there.

this being said.

I have not deployed desktop managers to users machines unless needed for

troubleshooting purposes or forcing a synch.

I do however want to use the usb drive to charge the unit.

I'm thinking about just extracting the the RIMUSB.SYS from the

c:\winnt\system32\drivers and not installing the desktop manager

i just want my users to charge through the USB but not to have the software

HAS ANYONE ELSE TRY THIS ALREADY?

Default Yes, have tried it - 12-02-2005, 02:40 PM

A post I read a couple of months ago indicated that you need rimusbnt.inf as well, although I'm not certain. I grabbed both and everything works fine and the BB's charge faster.

Ciao

We have deployed the Desktop Light--Just the handheld Manager and not to show icon upon startup. This way, the application is there for drivers, and in case we plan on changing the way the router is configured, the user's will just have to simply plug in their device.

I believe if you just copy the files located here, it will charge the bb on a users desktop (worked on my home pc)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\USB Drivers

If you deploy the HandHand Manager, you can also take advantage of least-cost routing. The handheld will connect directly to the BES Router via Serial By-Pass and route information through the wire instead of wirelessly... if you care about that at all.

which is why we deployed it and its a good idea to do so because it already has the USB Drivers installed all together.
