Default RIM have changed their IP address ranges - 10-23-2009, 05:37 AM

Started receiving floods of Zenprise alerts on 18 Oct saying SRP Connectivity to one or more IP Address at BlackBerry Infrastructure failed. Affected BESs were all configured to use srp.eu.blackberry.net or srp.uk.blackberry.net and all were still showing an SRP status of Connected and were successfully forwarding email.

Running bbsrptest.exe in a command prompt failed but testing Router connectivity through the Server Config GUI showed it was trying 2 IP addresses (93.186.25.33 and 193.109.81.33). Never seen that before and our corporate firewalls were only configured to allow the 193 address, hence the problem.

RIM's knowledge base KB03735 was updated on 19 Oct but they are adamant that these addresses have resolved to multiple IPs for some time. I'm not sure I that's correct.

We no longer have an issue as we've updated our firewall rules but I thought it might be worth flagging this here in case anyone else has this problem but is unaware of it. Only way you'd see it would be entries in the server's event log or running one of the tests above.

Lucky our firewall rule is based on the hostname and not IP. I knew this was going to happen one day.
