Block Read Receipts
 

Is there a way to block Read Receipts from being sent by the blackberry for a single user.

Here is what i'm working with:
Exchange 2007
BES 4.1.6.10
Outlook 2007
BlackBerry Bold

We have set the option in Outlook to never send a response to a read receipt and they don't go out if the email is read in Outlook. When reading an email on the BB with a read receipt, it will respond with the read reciept.

I've scoured the forums and internet but the only thing I found was this:

That looks like it will block it for everyone on our server. Is there a way to block it for a single user? We've got a couple thousand users but the one needing this blocked is a VIP. :?

You should be able to create transport rules at the Exchange levels to prevent this.

Launch regedit on the BES and Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents.

- Right-click the folder.
- Highlight New.
- Click DWORD Value.
- Type SuppressReadReceipts.
- Press Enter.
- Right-click the SuppressReadReceipts registry key.
- Click Modify.
- Select the Decimal option.
- Type 2 to prevent BlackBerry smartphone users from sending read receipt messages.
- Click OK.
- Restart the BlackBerry Controller.

You cut and pasted from the KB article he posted and thought that would be helpful?

How does that work for one person?

Didn't spot the document link, hence the duplication. Point is you can't block read receipts except at the server (registry) level - at least to the best of my knowledge.

I don't believe it is possible.
 

It is either an "all or nothing" with read receipts, I haven't found a way to do it on an individual basis.
