Default Anyone know how wireless email deletion works?

Please Login to Remove!

Here's the deal. We have a BES version 4.0.3.3. We have 110 users, 95% of which have 7250s with the latest OS. We use Exchange 2003. We do not use the desktop software, as we are strictly wireless.

I have some users reporting that their deleted emails do not delete off the Blackberry when they delete it from Outlook. They do not empty their deleted items folder (I have been witness to this). The settings on the Blackberry are set to "Mailbox & Handheld" with "Wireless Reconcile" set to "On". The email doesn't delete until they do a reconcile now.

My questions are these:

1. Is the deletion of emails taken care of on a different loop than emails that are delivered? As an example, I just tried sending a test email to myself in Outlook. It came to my Blackberry. I deleted it out of Outlook. It took 10 minutes to remove it from my Blakcberry. During that 10 minutes I had gotten 6 emails. Does anyone know how this process works?

Thanks in advance.

Messages are reconciled every 15 minutes. The schedule of new messages being delivered doesn't have anything to do with it. If the "Reconcile Now" works, then the messages should synch up on their own if you wait long enough. Have you let the messages sit in the Deleted Items folder for longer then that, and not seen them go away on the device?

I thought it was every 20 messages or 15 minutes, whichever came first. Not sure on that but thought it was more than just time as the only factor.

I have a 8700c on a BESD 4.0 and can not get messages deleted from the BB to delete from my Lotus client. I can delete from my client and watch them disappear from the BB, but if I delete from the BB (On Mailbox & Handheld is the default) they remain on the client.

Thanks for any help.

Its like this-A message deleted from the BB is deleted on the after about 15-30 minutes (Depending on Server Load). A message deleted from the mail client will reflect on the BlackBerry within minutes--given the fact the information above is set to ON.

By the way, check your Server Manager IT Policy and or server options and turn on Wireless Reconcilliation. When you click on a user, the information populated below will show if the reconcilliation is turned on the server (Server takes precendence over handheld)

Is this a new problem caused by SP3? I'm not a patch-happy manager and only patch right away if there is significant functionality or a major security hole that is fixed. Needless to say, I'm stil on SP2, HF2 and it's working absolutely fine.

Has any one done any isolating to that level?

Thanks.

Upgrade tio Sp3HF2 for Domino. Cathy, re-send yourself the service books and check your Email Reconcilliation settings.

Check the ACL settings of the mailbox, has the BES the right to delete documents?
