Question Repeated Mapi issues on BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hi. My BES runs fine in general. Every few months though a user or two will complain that mail seems to be arriving later than it should (usually several hours late). When I log into the BES and launch the Blackberry Manager, it pops up a Mapi error\warning. Mail is still working\getting through, it is just taking way too long. I turn off all BB services then follow KB10285, with the one exception being that I have to remove then reinstall MAPI + CDO 1.2.1 first. I can then redo the Mapi profile with the BES admin name and all my Pending Data on the BES start to resolve. I have discussed with RIM folks and they were unclear why my Mapi profile gets "blown up" every once in a while. I log into the BES 4.1.6 as the service account\BES admin every time, although some of my teammates log in as themselves. They are domain admins.

Anyone ever see this? Thanks. -MBH

Since you reinstalled MAPI + CDO can you confirm that you have the same version of cdo.dll and mapi32.dll on both BES and the Exchange servers ?

Exclamation

Both the BES and the Exchange servers have identical versions of mapi32.dll. BES, however, has cdo.dll and the Exchange servers do not even have it. They have a file called excdo.dll. -MBH

Thanks Knotty. Question: how do most companies get around this problem? We have 4 or 5 people who add and delete on the BES, but only I login as the BES admin (I am the only one with the password). We understand the various SOX security issues with having multiple people login as the same service account. We therefore avoid this behavior wherever possible. My boss does not want one full time BES admin doing all the adds/deletes/etc. -MBH

use remote BlackBerry Manager (not RDP or VNC) and assign accounts with roles?
