Question BESX - BB syncs over wire only

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,

We just installed BESX and have 2 phones set up on it. They both activated by USB fine but I have an issue with mine. Unless it is connected via USB to the server it will not sync.

The other user's phone is syncing wirelessly after activating it by the same USB.

My "Queued IT policy status" is 'Error'.
My "Result of last transaction to the device" is 'Failed forwarding message'.

Help!

Newest BES Express 5 can work with BIS on most carriers that support it, but if on verizon you will have to get a BES dataplan.

BES/BPS/SBE can only use a BES dataplan

I was made aware by all of the Blackberry documentation that you can use BES or BIS plans. The one major difference was OTA cannot be done on BIS plans.

I also mentioned that both phones are on BIS plans and one of them is working.

Thanks for the reply but I've investigated that option and I'm pretty sure BES is not needed (unless you're a US Verizon customer apparently, which we are not).

It is a BESAdmin rite of passage to go through the gauntlet of correcting the right data plan with your carrier.

Thanks for the help.

Allow me this moment to rant:

After calling BB and talking with someone, they told me there was data missing from my plan!

After talking with 3 different people at Telus, before phoning BB, none of them spotted that! I had to point it out to the last person I talked to after phoning BB! The more I deal with Telus, the more I'm reminded how pathetic their Customer Support is.

Well, to be fair, one of the first things you should have checked is whether or not you had data connection to Telus. Having said that, so should they! Under Manage Connections on the BB (new ones of course), there's a services status which would have told you weren't connected to the data network.

Verizon is blowing smoke about needing a enterprise level plan for BES Express. I've confirmed on my Verizon blackberry that BIS will work with BES Express. You lose the ability to wireless activate users, but users can easily activate themselves with web based desktop manager and you save an est $15 a month per user.

BIS plans work just fine with BESx, in fact RIM says it will. The only issue is that you have to activate via cable if your BIS plan doesn't give you the Enterprise Activaion menu in Options. Once activated you're good to go with a BIS plan, though.
