Question BIS to BES switch?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a user that just joined our company with his 7100T and wants to be setup on my BES...he's using the dekstop redirector currently and we need to activate him, but there is not Enterprise activation icon anywhere on his BB...he's provitioned from T-mobile for BES access, deleting that provition in the service bood didnt' work...so I'm trying to switch his Desktop manager to BES accesses - how do I do that? do I have to reinstall the Manager?

thanks
Hanni

Uninstall Desktop Redirector and reinstall as Desktop Manager. Go into Service Books and delete the two Desktop service books that are currently there. This should give you the Enterprise Activation option.

Wink Enterprise Wireless Activation ?

Do you mean Enterprise Wireless Activation? If so that is supported by version 4.0 or newer. Otherwise just install the Desktop Manager configuring it for Exchange.

I would also double check with Tmobile.. We've had issues getting BES actually provisioned.

Go into the options screen and there should be an enterprise activation menu item. On the standard BB models it would be in the "Wrench" or "Swiss Army Knife" menu.

I don't deal with enough 7100 series to be able to remember where it was.

Default Success - partially anyways..

so after wiping the handheld, wipeing and reinstalling the handheld software and 4 calls to RIM, someone finally said that the BES was not provisioned on the device, despite me having called T-mobile 2x on this...so now the enterprise actication icon stayed, it suceeded in activating...and is currently stuck at 89%...the handheld is clean, there is really nothing in Lotus Notes yet, since this is a new User...what gives?

thanks

89% sounds like the address book. have you enabled address book sync? check the values . what type of address book sync you are using? (iNotes, server side or roaming)

I agree, it sounded like the addressbook but that was empty...this morning the actication progress is at 91%....and stuck....
also the next fun part is that this was a previously OUtlook-sync'd BB with tons of data on it...which I've backed up, then wiped the handheld, then activated the BES and I now started the restore of the data, and it put the 7300 address back in there, but it's not restoring the calendar, which is very crucial....in the enterprise activation window on the BB is says that the addressbook is still initializing, but that the calendar is done...however the addressbook seems to work, the calendar doesnt - any idea's why?
I've called BB on this issue a few times and get a different - not working answer everytime, it sounds like they have no idea how to do this either...

thanks

If the BlackBerry is a BIS BB, you can only switch to an Enterprise (BES), if you contact the provider, change your contract from BIS to BES and then they have to send information to the BlackBerry handheld to make it an Enterprise enabled device! Then you can go on with activation.

Bob
