Default BES Express and Outlook on Server?

The BES INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION GUIDE:

states that the SERVER must have "...Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI client and CDO 1.2.1..."

I am trying to perform a single server install of BES on Exchange 2010 and about the last thing I want to install on the server is a user app like Outlook. Is this really required or can I just copy and register some .DLL's?

Also, which version of Outlook is required?

I tried to install CDO from microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2714320d-c997-4de1-986f-24f081725d36&DisplayLang=en]Download details: Collaboration Data Objects, version 1.2.1 but it told me it can not complete without Outlook being installed first. Is there is a different version of CDO for Exchange 2010... this version looks quite old.

Your input is appreciated.

There is a version of the CDO 1.2.1 package that also includes MAPI. That's the one you want.

Go to the MS Download Centre and search for CDO

Download the top (most popular) one.

I did search prior to the original post. That is how I found the MS CDO 1.2.1 on the MS Download Center, which as I mentioned, requires a MAPI client. When I search CDO and MAPI in BlackberryForums I only find references to this thread. Not very useful.

I found the combo by searching other forums. For those who care, the useful link here is:

This was updated in January 2010 and while it does not state that it supports R2 of 2008 Server, I just installed it on mine without apparent isssue.
