Default Activation issue on one CAS with Exchange 2010

Please Login to Remove!

I have 2 Exchange 2010 Servers in the same Exchange organization but located in different AD Sites. Both sites use the Same BES Server.

EX2010 Users in SiteA activate normally, EX2010 users in Site B do not activate.

BES Version 5.0.1
Exhange 2010 Rollup 3

Site B users receive the Authentication email but the BES does not pull them out of the mailbox.

Also users added to the BES that exist in SiteB generate these errors on the BES....as demonstrated with my test user Sir Ted Nugent.

I would assume the permissions are set correctly as 2010 Mailboxes on the other exchange server Activate without issue.

In fact moving a BES enabled Mailbox to Exhange in SiteA does not require a re-activation it works correctly.

So that would tell me that the BES account security is configured properly for Exchange 2010 and the Exhange organization....correct?

"Ted Nugent: Failed to create a folder in mailbox" - Looks like a permission issue to me.

During EA, BES Svc account deletes the ETP.DAT email from the inbox. And from the IEMSTest.exe it looks that read permissions are okay, but the tool could not create a folder.

Reconfirm the permissions. Also can you check
1.if the activated user on the SiteB can reply to emails from HH, and
2.delete a test email on HH and see if it disappears in outlook.
Hope this helps.

I checked the permissions by running the following cmds on the 2010 Exchange Server

Get-MailboxDatabase | Add-ADPermission -User "BESAdmin" -AccessRights ExtendedRight -ExtendedRights Receive-As, ms-Exch-Store-Admin

Add-RoleGroupMember "View-Only Organization Management" -Member "BESAdmin"

Both cmds kicked back warnings indicated the permissions are already set. So permissions should be good, unless I'm missing something.

"1.if the activated user on the SiteB can reply to emails from HH, and
2.delete a test email on HH and see if it disappears in outlook."

No 2010 Users from Site B can activate, so if I'm reading your request correctly I cannot test the above.

Check That

After re-running the above commands the BES pulled the ETP.DAT from previous activation attempts and started processing emails.

So in short it was a permissions issue.
