Default Number of contacts not the same in Outlook and BB

Please Login to Remove!


I have a user who has 1374 contacts in her Outlooks but only 1226 shows up on her Blackberry contact list.

Any thoughts?

Check the address book options on the device and make sure wireless synchronization is set to Yes. If it is already set to Yes, try the following..

Take a backup of the device address book
Open the address book on the device
Go to options
Type rset on the device keyboard
select yes in the confirmation popup

This will delete all the contacts from the device and reloads the contacts from the outlook mailbox. Wait for about 10-15 minutes and create a new contact in outlook and see if it synchronizes.

Groups won't sync, and neither will badly formated contacts.

Contacts require that some information be in at least one of these 3 fields: First Name, Last Name, Company. If all 3 fields are empty the contact will not sync to the BB.
No longer a BES Admin, but it was fun while it lasted!

Default BB Address Book

Read this thread, it gets close to my problem.
Outlook has most of the entries that are in the BB but incomplete data - home and business phone but not Mobile - or other variances on that theme.

Someone suggested a resync (with Outlook winning) but I need a resync with BB winning. I tend to enter details on BB when I get them so it is the most complete record.
I also am unable to backup the Address Book without getting an error.

Please post the exact error message here otherwise it is very difficult to help.

You can set the sync of the address book to go from the Blackberry to Outlook. On the user properties, under PIM Sync, under the Address Book heading, choose "Device to Server" (standard is "Bidirectional").

Nevertheless, the mobile number of a contact should always sync, so something else might be wrong in your setup. You should probably check the PIM Sync field mappings.

This works most of the time with corrupt contacts:

In outlook Make a new folder for contacts called backup

move all contacts to the backup folder and wait for all to be removed from device

then pull battery on device and put back in

After device boots move contacts from backup to the contacts folder and wait for them all to appear

Make a new contact in outlook and see if it gets to the device and check with an edit too.
