Question Connection

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

I have installed BES according to the manual and activated my BB 9700 through Web Desktop Manager. While connected through USB I got my mail, but when I disconnect I get no mail, nor I can send mail.

I believe it's some sort of communication problem, so I started wondering: How my BB finds my mail server? I don't use a fixed IP. My Exchange mail server is running on a dynamic IP using dyndns.

Where should I config my server's IP on the device?

Any clues?

Wirelessly posted (T-Mobile 9700)

You don't configure it on the device. The bes needs you're exchange servers dyndns address.

This is usually a provisioning problem on the wireless account. Are you sure there's a BLACKBERRY DATA PLAN provisioned?

It doesn't. Your BES communicates with the RIM infrastructure on TCP Port 3101 (SRP).
Your device communicates directly with the RIM infrastructure by way of your BlackBerry Data Plan.
BES moves data between your exchange server and your handheld.

Nowhere. This isn't necessary. See above.

Not exactly. BES talks to Exchange internally via MAPI. It wouldn't need the dynamic IP at all.

Thanks, you were absolutely right. The guy from the wireless company sold a BB without a Data Plan, which I thought would never happen.
Anyway the data plan is hired now and as the wireless company says, its working.
As I don't have SNMP installed on my Windows Server I can't test connection through BMS and I still getting these answers:

Quote:
PIN ******** (omited by me)

Result of last transaction to the device Failed forwarding message

Device IT policy Default

Any other clues?

They put the wrong data plan on there.
They put a Prosumer BlackBerry Data Plan... and you need an Enterprise BlackBerry Data Plan.

Well, as usual you were right. The carrier have setup the wrong plan. They are correcting it right now.
Now I got another doubt to make it more complex. When I get messages through BES I am using my corporate account. Is there any way I can have more than one e-mail account at my BB? I mean these accounts:
1) Corporate;
2) Gmail;
3) Hotmail.

yes. Integrate GMail and Hotmail using BIS.
You should have a "Personal Email Setup" icon somewhere on the device.
Use that icon to integrate up to 10 additional email accounts.

Great. As soon as the carrier make it work I will post the result here, but I believe everything will go through. Many thanks.
