Default 5.0 public folders - what does user see?

Please Login to Remove!

i am contemplating the 'upgrade' from BPS 4.1.4 to BESX 5.0 SOLELY for the public folder access.

What i need to know is how PF access works for users.

For example, is it possible to have a PF Contacts icon on the handheld?
is the list maintained separately?
if not, how does a user access PF contacts?

i'd like to avoid this move all together, but if we don't do it with BB, we're going to have to do it with another piece of software which is likely rather pricey.

In Bes 5.0, the public folder Contacts work like the folders in mail.
normally, you see all contacts in the contact list, but, you may klick in options, then, view folders, then, select a specific folder from the list, and then, you see only this folder.

Public folder access is very limited however IMHO:
A Blackberry user cannot edit or delete a public contact

(the same applies to the attachments support for appointments, you can only view an attachment, but, cannot edit or add one)

Dont know, if this works better in BESX but I dont think so.

nobody7290 Is spot on.

One other thing I might suggest is assigning a category to your PF contacts (we assign a custom category, depending on the folder). Your users will then be able to filter by this category if they have the need to see only PF contacts.
