Default Some advice for DR

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all

At the moment we have 2 sites in the business:

Site 1: Lotus Domino 7.0.3 & BES 5 (35 BB users)
Site 2: Microsoft Exchange 2007 & BES 5 (30 BB users)

In September we are migrating Domino to Exchange, and having Exchange 2010 placed in Site 1. So, during this migration I will set up our users on the BB server in site 2, then site 2 will be upgraded to Exchange 2010 as well.

So, the setup will then be:

Site 1: Exchange 2010 & BES (Domino, unused)
Site 2: Exchange 2010 & BES (70 users)

We have another Exhcange BES license so can rebuild the site 1 BB server as an Exchange BB server. Can we use this, therefore, to host the Site 1 BB users and also do DR/high availability between the 2 BES'?

Thanks

Chas

you could have two Servers sharing the same DB and split the user load over the two servers possibly. Or have a standby Server using the same SRP as an existing one (knife-Edge standby Server)

OK, could I not have a database at each site and each use each server for the local users but the other one as HA server? We have 2 SRP keys...

You have BES 5, so you don't need two SRP and auth keys.
BES 5 has HA built in as a feature. You'd set up the second BES as a standby server in an HA pair using the same SRP as the primary BES.
Both BES would use the same SQL database, which you can mirror if you choose to.

OK, thanks for this. So at my second site, have the HA BES server, pointing to a mirrored DB. Is the HA easy enough to configure within BES 5?
