Hi,

I currently have two BES servers setup on Server 2008 R2 servers in and exchange 2007 environment. The database resides on a seperate server from both on SQL 2005. I have built servers for years but I am really stuck on this one.
Basically after approximatley 30 mins after both servers being rebooted the failover status of both servers changes to "unknown" from their previous status (Primary or Secondary) in the high availability section in the BAS. Also the status says "Not running" under the high availability section of the Blackberry server configuration panel.
I have tried everything I can think of. I have tried changing the communication between the servers from UDP to TCP (but both servers are in the same subnet so this doesn't matter). I have been thrigh all the logs with no mention of an issue.
Has anyone else come across this issue? I have been at it for a couple of days now and any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are rebooting the BES HA servers for whatever reasons, the order of restart is important. Shutdown both servers at the same time. Restart the Primary BES first, once started fine, then restart the standby BES. This is just my observation. And for whatever reasons, if someone here knows, please share.

I have been trying that but both servers do come up fine and the HA all works fine for about 30 mins. Its just that there appears to be some issue between the servers that gives their status as unknown. What is bizzare is that they both know themselves which state they are in and that can be read from the database. Its just that it won't enable failover of any form when the failover staus changes to unknown.
