Question What if BES goes down?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

I have one scenario, can anyone put some light on what happen in this case:
When for example BES goes down or got disconnected from internet, then can my BlackBerry 3rd party application still be able to access the server application deployed on one of the machine in the network where BES resides.
1. In this case, will I be able to access the Server application over carriesr n/w?
2. Also, what if I use WiFi in the same network where my BES and Server application is from BlackBerry device?

Appreciate your response!!!

Thanks,
Hemant

Default

That depends on how your application is programmed. If it is working over the Internet, it could also be accessed through the carrier's data connection. If it is an MDS application, you need the MDS service up and running for it to work. So you should ask your programmers on the details.

Question

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
I checked the BB client application, application first check for availability of the Carrier n/w and if the n/w is available then in the server url it appends the (deviceside=false[and no mdspublic related parameter, As the request is going th' BES]){I believe that here BES should be up to establish the connection} .
If carrier n/w is not available, then check the WiFi and if WiFi is available then in the server url appends the interface=wifi parameter{I am not sure what will happen here if BES server is down}.

Any idea, what will happen when connection mechanism is over WiFi and BES is down?

Thanks and appreciate your reply!!!!
