Default BES 4.0.4.8 Upgrade to BES 5??

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I have a customer wanting to upgrade from BES 4.0.4.8 to BES 5. I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that you can not do a straight upgrade using the upgrade pack?

Is it a case of just updating the service packs on the BES to get it to BES 4.0.7 to be compatible for the upgrade? If so which service packs to be compatible for Exchange 2003.

Also the customer wants to move the BES on to a VM server? Any good advice on this?

Get migration kit from RIM

Apply SP7 on BES 4.0.4

Install BES 5 on VM and test

Move user over with transporter.
Old SRP will expire and new one from migration kit will be permanant.

Then move users over to exchange 2003.

Thanks for your help.

If they do a straight upgrade then move the BES over to a VM will this have much of an implication?

Just to clarify it is this service pack I need? Software For BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0 for Microsoft(R) Exchange

It is best to start with a new database, once tested and working then move users over.

You are only listing a MR, you need the SP7 update then can apply MR if needed.
