Default Depolying Apps from BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I'm using 4.1.6 BES. We have our users on the policy that doesn't allow 3rd party apps.

I have 2 questions.

1) If you push an app from the BES using a software configuration do you need to lift the policy that doesn't allow 3rd party apps?

2) Where do you find .cod and .alx files for 3rd party apps - I found the files for google products easy enough, but am having trouble getting these files for other 3rd party apps (like the Air Canada app for example). Is there a way I can generate these files so I can then make the software configuration on the BES?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

1. Yes

2. If the software developer doesn't offer the .alx and .cod files for that particular app, you can always make your own with a little creativity.
John Clark has a nice post about backing up third-party apps on the handheld. That should point you in the right direction if you want to start making your own app packages.
