Default Contacts are not syncing

Please Login to Remove!

A co-worker of mine is recently started not being able to sync their contacts. when entered from the phone outlook doesn't update, when entered from outlook the phone doesn't update. I've been reading some post on this forum suggesting deleting and undeleting the contacts service book labeled Desktop [SYNC]. I just wanted to make sure this operation was done entirely from the phone and also wanted to make sure that if the Service Book "Desktop [SYNC]" was deleted the messaging and calendar would not be affected. thank you for your help.

Two common thing that you can check to try and troubleshoot will be to confirm that the device has the available memory. BB does begin to delete old emails, calendar entries, etc..., to make room for 'newer' items. Next, you will need to check the contacts themselves. A contact cannot sync unless it has at least one of the three fields filled, first, last, or company name. If not, the sync will stop. So the information you found with the service books is a good start, though it will not help without confirming the actual contact list.

You will need to resend the service books otherwise it wont sync anything. Just because you delete it, doesnt mean it will fix the problem. If the sync service book is corrupt, you will need to ensure it gets resent to the device to correct the sync process. Also go into the the contacts list on the device, options, and see if it shows two desktop entries. If it does your best bet will be to wipe out the device reload it. You can always do a manual back up of the contacts and restore them before reactivating.

In outlook Make a new folder for contacts called backup

move all contacts to the folder and wait for all to be removed from device

then pull battery on device and put back in

After device boots move contacts from backup to the contacts folder and wait for them all to appear

Make a new contact in outlook and see if it gets to the device.
