We are running BES 4.1 along with Novell Groupwise 8. Occasionally (and without cause apparently), e-mail will stop being synced to a particular Blackberry. There doesn't appear to be a rhyme or reason, but every 3 weeks or so I get a call from a user (we have almost 50) who's e-mail fails to sync. The BES reports the phone is syncing fine...and all other functions work (can send email, BBM, contacts sync, etc), it's just just the receiving of email that stops. I can remedy the issue by deleting the user from the BES, re-adding, then re-running the Enterprise activation on the Blackberry.

Any ideas on what to look for? It's a pain to have to delete/readd a user when this happens. Thanks!

Not familiar with BES for Groupwise but you should look at the MAGT log on the BES to find the reason for not sending mails to the device.

I have the exact same problem as described, with Exchange 2003. BES version 4.1.6.16. Also around 50 users. It's driving me crazy. I will look into the MAGT log. Please post back if anyone figures anything out.

The only common thread we can find is it seems to only happen with Blackberry 9630's. But that could be a coincidence as there are two people that this happens to every couple weeks with them. I have only seen it happen to about 4 people all told, all with 9630's. But we have a lot of those phones.

Oh also, when this happens they can send emails, just not receive. I'm hoping we have the same issue and I'm not thread jacking here

So I've researched my MAGT logs and am coming up empty. Online I have only found reference to this KB-01034. (I'd post a link but forums rules don't allow me to yet - lame)

But that runs me in to the dead end. It seems to suggest that my problems are a result of "cause 4" - "One message is causing an unresponsive thread in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server." and the only fix is to remove and reactivate the affected user.

That's not a real resolution when it's happening every week or every couple of weeks. :/

It sounds like you are experiencing the issue outlined in SDR 353296 which was corrected in MR7 for BES 4.1.6. You will either want to install MR7 or upgrade to SP7 MR3.

Installed MR7 and in the notes I was able to verify it should fix our issue. We had one lady that was "broken" I looked into her folder redirection in the Blackberry Manager and her inbox had been unchecked in the selection list, so the server had indeed processed the change folder command that is a bug fix. I'll check back in a couple weeks, so far so good. thanks for the help!
