Default User can't remember password

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

We're about to implement a password policy. It won't be to invasive, as in requiring a large amount of characters, requiring it to be changed at certain intervals, etc. Our policy will be 4 characters and the PW does not expire. Knowing my users we'll be getting calls that they can't remember their password. Probably after entering it like 9 times so one more and the device resets itself. Can we reset the password from the BES or do we just have to let them suffer? If they do do it 10 times and the device resets won't it still ask for the password once the reset is complete?

Our BES is at level 4.1.6.23. Would "Set Password" and Lock Handheld" be the function I use to reset a forgotten password??

Yup. You got it.

As far as the reset, if it gets to that point, the wipe would blow it all away. The p/w prompted would be for a new one. As if you got it for the first time. Good luck.

Ok, so far so good. Would devices that have their OS's lower than 4.3 be an issue? I've got about 4 old devices running 4.1 and 3 old devices running 4.2

I have devices raning from 4.1 to 4.5 an no issue with them.

I sent out an email stating the change and told them to contact me on 8th attempt or before, so I could change the password from BES if they could not figure it out.

only 2 have wiped so far, 5 calls about enetering the number in when they really used a letter. Tell them to use the keys with out numbers and it will be easier.
