Default BES Small Business > Enterprise Express

Could someone clarify how many users you can have on a BES server running on Small Business Server?

I'm informed that (based on the above number), we may need to migrate to another BES product, i.e. Enterprise Express to support a required number of users. If this is the case, how do you upgrade or install from the SBS version?

Thanks

You don't need to worry about BES limit, as it is 10,000. On the other hand, SBS Exchange's limit is only 75 accounts, so BES can handle just fine your SBS.
Any way you should consider installing BES on a member server, as it is gonna be too heavy for a server already running exchange, maybe sql and being the domain controler.

Thanks for clarifying.

Someone told me that there was a 15 user limit on the SBS version, which didn't make sense because of the 75 user limit in SBS itself.

This has come about because they were trying to add additional licenses to the server when they had 15 registered and they received an error when trying to add a couple more. After looking on the net, they apparently came across something that said the error related to the limit.

I'll have to see what the error was and report back.

Thanks

It sounds like you are talking about what I normally call "small" bes.
There used to be (well I guess still is in some way) "small" bes which could take up to 15 users and "full" bes which could take "unlimited" users. Both same software but it depended on what license you applied at install. "Small" bes can be unlocked with an unlock key.

What ThomasCr_Br refers to is BES express which is different software.

Can you confirm the error and what version BES you are running?

If you are running "small" BES then I would move to BES express too otherwise you would have to pay for the unlock key which I seem to remember can be quite expensive.

Hope that makes sense?
