Default BB sync via USB because of saving data costs

Please Login to Remove!

- a BB works via BES Express server
- this BB synced the Inbox via USB with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager while 'data service' on the BB is off

Is it correct that because all e-mail has been synced via USB, after turning on data service, the same e-mail will not come into the Inbox again?

If possible we will use this because of saving data costs while being abroad.

getting a international dataplan might be a better idea

we had a user that accessed emails and did a lot of browsing and we ended up with a HUGE bill after. Changing to international dataplans has helped keep costs down. You will get one person that ends up costing you more than the added cost of the plan at some point.

Indeed, but we have already an international dataplan of max. 100Mb. But this user receives 1000 mails per month, so after a few weeks this is already 100Mb on the BB. And after this max 100Mb of data we do have to pay an amount per Mb.

So for this we try to reduce the data traffic.

If Data services are disabled and you are using USB/serial bypass to sync your BlackBerry, the data should not be delivered to the device again. The BES inserts a RefID in every email in the users Inbox and records the RefID's status eg. read/delete/unread/filed.

You could Disable HTML Email? and Do not automatically download images. Both are located in Messages -> click Menu -> Options -> Email settings

Is Content Protection enabled? That could increase the amount of Data sent.
