Default No Longer Domain Admin Still Can't Send

Please Login to Remove!

Had a user I added to BES Express and realized the domain admin group membership was causing the send mail issue. I removed the user from the group...waited 20 minutes...rebooted the entire BES Express server, yet the user still can't send mail.

Am I missing a key step? Thank you for any guidance.

Check to make sure the BES service account has "Send As" permission for the user.

If The BES service account doesn't have permission, add the "Send As" permission. Wait 20 minutes. Verify the "Send As" permission still there?

If yes, turn off the BB (this prevents any requests from the BES service account from
attempts to send email for this user which will reset cached info in Active Directory).

If no, the user is still affected by something like a protected group. You will most likely need to check the Microsoft website for the Send As permission articles.

Kalvin,
Thank you for the reply. BESAdmin was not granted Send As on that account. I wonder if that's because he was a Domain Admin at first?? Anyway I added the permission and we'll see. Thank you again.

You are right. The moment you add the Domain Admin (or any Protected Group) to a Active Directory user, the Send As will disappear faster then an iPhone at a Hippie convention.

Once you add the Send As permission, wait 20 minutes to make sure ithe permission is not revoked. If the permission remains after 20 minutes, I would make sure the BB does not attempt to send any emails through the BES for at least 2 hours to make sure permissions are replicated and the cache is cleared. The simpliest ways to do that are; turn off the BB,
take out the battery,
disable Mobile Network,
disable Data Serives (this will allow phone calls but not BlackBerry data).

Kalvin,
Looks like we're good to go. Permissions didn't disappear and we just turned the phone on and sent without as issue. I really appreciate the replies!
